When words fall short

I’ve always been an artist at heart. When people ask what I wanted to be when I was little, I get the absolute privilege of answering honestly: an artist. That was the dream then, and in many ways, it still is now.

As a kid, I was often called “shy.” Later, I realized I wasn’t really shy so much as deeply introverted, and having language for that was freeing. All I knew was that when words didn’t come easily, I could still express myself by creating.

This part of my practice feels especially connected to that. It holds the quieter, more personal side of how I see the world, shaped by curiosity, observation, experience, feeling, and change. Over in this side of the house, you will find all of that via artistic expression. The past few years have changed me a lot, and this work feels tied to that return. In many ways, it feels like a coming back to life of sorts.
